Ketoconazole is better absorbed in the presence of antacids. Nizoral shampoo contains 2 % Ketoconazole and is often prescribed for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Ketoconazole interferes with testicular secretion of testosterone and may produce a feminizing effect in males. Nizoral stops the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol.
